Grading potential candidates for the Florida football head coach opening 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Florida is now around Hour 72 of its coaching search. As folks in the media like myself scrabble together lists of potential candidates for the job and fans try to track private planes leaving Gainesville Regional Airport, athletic director Scott Stricklin faces what is likely the most important hire of his entire career as an athletic director.

This is the Gators’ fourth coaching search in the last 10 years, and it’s imperative that this is the right hire. Per usual, a lot of names have circulated in relation to the job, and some seem more realistic than others.

One name that stands out is Louisiana coach Billy Napier, who has turned down SEC coaching options in the past, but it has been speculated that he’s been waiting for a job exactly like Florida to open up. Other potential candidates could include Baylor’s Dave Aranda, Oregon‘s Mario Cristobal and Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin.

On Monday, I put together a list of potential candidates for the job, but now let’s go a little bit deeper and evaluate these candidates. Here’s the incredibly objective and scientific scale I will be using:

5: Blank check. Hire this man now.

4: Would probably be successful

3: Could work out, but I have questions

2: Uninspired

Here’s where each candidate stacks up.
