Florida McDonalds Restaurants Are Again Seeking Applicants For Educator Golden Grants πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

This is the second year Florida’s McDonald’s Restaurants are awarding educator grants. Raphael Velasquez owns 21 McDonald’s franchises in the region, which covers Tallahassee. He said the idea of awarding education grants came because of all the extra pressure the pandemic was placing on educators.

“We launched our first year during COVID. We had some educators and people who run after-school activities apply. And we had someone here in Tallahassee win and that was great! I was there and able to give the program their money.”

The “Golden Grants” initiative was so well received, said Velasquez, that it was time to move it to the next level.

“We’ve actually increased the amount of money in the grant program compared to the previous year. We’re just excited to do that. And McDonald’s being here in Tallahassee, the community’s what comes and supports our business, and this is just one great way we can support our community.”

More funding, explained Velasquez, means more potential impact.

“We have 27 grants totaling $100,000 here in Florida. Here in North Florida, we have 10 grants that are totaling $40,000. We have one $10,000 winner, 3 at $5,000 and 6 at $2,500.”

All kinds of activities that advance the overall goals of learning are eligible.

“Qualifying Golden Grant activities include arts and crafts programs, education initiatives, mentorships and empowerment programs, afterschool programs, community service outreach, sports programs, and more. So educators and individuals whose efforts qualify can apply for a Golden Grant once at:

Velasquez said the process is quick and easy, but the deadline is coming up quick.

“And they have until Dec.10 and the grant recipients will be selected Feb. 1st.”
